He is a pioneering glass artist in Japan, displaying his works at exhibitions of the Imperial Fine Arts Academy and at solo exhibitions. Iwata was quick to make glass utensils for the traditional tea ceremony. The work pictured here is a deep blue vessel with floating clouds, a vessel through which dim light can pass.
