General Election '96

Some newspapers have surveyed the opinion of voters on the coming election. While general tendency - high support for LDP, expectation for DPJ and low for SDP and Sakigake - is the same, each result shows interesting differences.

They may be attributed to the date of survey. The Asahi Shimbun's research was conducted on September 16 and 17, the Yomiuri Shimbun on Semptember 28 and 29, the Tokyo Shimbun on October 2, 3 and 4, respectively.

Note that those who answered they would vote a DPJ (Minshuto) candidate do not necessarily support the party. This tendency is the same as that for the Japan New Party when it was launched three years ago.
