Cabinet Support Went the Lowest Level
The Asahi Shimbun conducted telephone survey on April 25 and 26, 1998 asking about cabinet and political party support. (to 1,558 persons). The Hashimoto cabinet support went the lowest of 28% since its launch while 51% said not support. 43% gave negative evaluation to its ¥16 trillion stimulus plan. 64% thought the Prime Minister was responsible for this sluggish economy, and 57% wanted to change the cabinet.

Life under Recession 1998
The Asahi Shimbun conducted face to face survey on March 1 and 2, 1998 asking about their life under recession. (to 2,211 persons). Many people feel the preparation for the retired life becoming heavy burden. They also appeared to be conservative in spending money.

Cabinet and MOF scandal 1998
The Asahi Shimbun conducted face to face survey on March 1 and 2, 1998 asking about their view on cabinet and recent MOF scandal. (to 2,211 persons). More than 70% of people do not trust bureaucrats, while 65% think the stock deal by politicians should be limited.
